Motorcycle Books and Manuals

At last I've gotten
the first set of pages up with Harley tech manuals, tweaks, chopping and
cutomizing books and guides. Plus there are special interest books on
motorcycle design and technology, motorcycle camping, where to tour and
more.

There's a very cool photo book on customized
Harleys as an art form. So far I've got 5 pages up and active and more to come
as soon as I get a little time - maybe even later today.

You can go straight to the first page:
Motorcycle Books at A Harley Motorcycle

Check it out and pick up a couple books to
help you fix your ride, plan - and succeed - with your next bike project, or
just to enjoy. more...

Next on the Motorcycle to-do

I like the way the mail feature works with the blog. Now let's also see if the auto-publish works well.A week or so ago the chain slipped the sprocket while I was going up a hill and I thought - just for a second - that the tranny had died an aweful death. Visions of poverty tramped through my head. Then I stuck it back on and went looking for a mechanic. Chain and sprockets only have about 5k kilometers on 'em. Way too soon toreplace, except it was already adjusted nearly all the way out.The problem is finding a mechanic here in this toen. The last two I used have vanished. Finally found one out the line toward Tambasco. He pulled the chain and took out a link and put it all back together while I waited, though he allowed as how that weakened the chain and an early replacement would be smart. Did it while I waited, for 7 reais, which is about US $2.60 or so. One other nice thing about Brasil is that the prices for services tend to be absurdly low compared to the states.Next month or April, he'll get me full kit and we'll fix it up.Next I need to work on the site. Going to put in some pages with great books on maintenance, choppers, and such. And see if I can some additional good sources for parts and accessories. I'd like to build the site into a one-stop service center for all sorts of Harley and motorcycle-related items. If you haven't been by, take a look:A-Harley-Motorcycle.comHad to put that in to see how URLs are handled on a mobile post. Yup, still doing some testing to make sure I don't waste a lot of time.Looks like you need to add the HTML tags around a URL in the email. Maybe try it tomorrow. more...

What a minute - a red head light?

Partly this is a test to see if the mobile posting works. The other day I was riding at night and as I was coming up a small hill in town I saw this dim red light ahead. Kind of weird, didn't look like a tail light and it was coming toward me.When I got close enough I could see the guy had tricked out his bike's headlight with some kind of red bulb. Some people down here have a death wish I guess. When I'm riding at night I want as much light as I can get.I see idiots riding at night with NO lights front or rear. I nearly ran over one of them on a highway. Not only no lights but way slower than the traffic flow, black helmet and dark clothes. That stuff in the skull is there to help you survive, not to feed your hair. A bike is a dangerous device (especially if it's hard to see - and they are).Let's all try to live to ride tomorrow. more...

Womens motorcycle boots on site

A Harley Motorcycle now has a source for womens motorcycle boots http://www.a-harley-motorcycle.com/st-womens-boots/ You can find a number of brands and models including Icon, Teknics, River Road, Sidi and more. More motorcycle gear will be coming to http://www.A-Harley-Motorcycle.com Just for fun I uploaded a photo of me at the end of a trilha (a mixed on and off-road ride ending at a barbeque after hours of torture involving mud, cow dung, deep water, more mud, very narrow paths on the side of hills and streams, more mud, slippery rocks, dust, and a lot of other fun stuff).  They told me it was a just a fun morning ride and I didn't speak hardly any portuguese then. (Yes, the trilha was through brazilian mata - a lot like jungle). Maybe I'll tell the whole gory story later.   more...

Why a motorcycle?

Answer is here =>>  http://www.a-harley-motorcycle.com/ Well, that's the site and if you look at the motorcycles and posters, that should be a good enough answer. But there are real differences among people. I have a friend who's spent a fortune on installing a complex, high-powered, 12 speaker car stereo system.  Suitable for a large concert hall.  In his car. When I drive, unless I'm in a foul mood, I like silence.  In a foul mood, I like heavy metal.  Loud, suicidal, heavy metal. In a car. But I prefer a bike.  Most cars these days are like land yatchs encased in sound absorbing foam that totally insulates you from anything real.  You can suddenly be going 85 mph and not even realize the engine is running.  And if a 12-speaker stereo system is shattering your eardrums too? At least on a motorcycle you are in reality. Wind, bugs, road spray, flying rocks and all.  You are doing something that is not even close to sitting in an armchair. Ride to be alive.   more...

A harley motorcycle space

This is an experiment . Sometimes beta stuff is great - sometimes it's a nightmare. Motorcycles are a way of life for some - and Harley Motorcycles are american icon - in more ways than one.

There is, literally, nothing like a harley. They've made imitations, but they aren't harleys. At the moment my personal itch is for a Buell Lightning XB12S - powered, naturally by a Harley engine. Or maybe a Firebolt XB9R.

Here's an intro page to A Harley Motorcycle"

Harley Davidson Motorcycles are an American Icon. Whether or not you're a biker, you feel something about a Harley. Maybe you remember "Easy Rider" or the 1%ers that once gave the motorcycle a bad image. The outlaw biker lifestyle is still there, but motorcycles have become part of the mainstream...

I'm going to see if I can add pics of the Lightning and the Firebolt more...

Motorcycle accessories, parts, etc

I’ve been running that banner ad over there for Motorcycle Superstore for quite a while and a good number of people have gone ahead and checked it out. However, apparently no one has ever bought anything from them or if they did it never got reported to me. Seems a little strange unless [...] more...

OK, so the title doesn’t make a lot of sense and I probably invented a new word too. Lighten up.

Bike withdrawal symptoms

The last four days have been beautiful - warm and sunny (it’s almost winter here and usually it’s a little chillier), and here I am pounding away at this damn keyboard. Which is what I’ve pretty much been doing the last four days too. My ride finally exceeded my kind of limited skills [...] more...

Well, now you can actually find the motorcycle books

I was so happy to finally get those motorcycle book pages up that I didn’t check and make sure the link from the blog worked. So, what can I blame it on - weather? Nah, been real nice. My bike malfunctioning? Hardly unusual and it was running fine this weekend. [...] more...

More motorcycle books, at last

It’s still not exactly what I had in mind but it’s a lot closer. I’d been promising to get an extended motorcycle bookstore set up and I finally got it set up last night. Over 400 books on motorcycles and motorcycling, a few travel guides, some miscellaneous motorcycle stuff and even [...] more...

Something spooky about the ride

I was just reading a couple of the comments and I got this real strange, spooky feeling. The kind of whispery soft feeling that sort of creeps up your spine like smoke and tingles in your head. Not the bad spooky. This is the good one that says you’re alive and onto [...] more...
